在这个新春来临之际,我有幸参与了一场别开生面的文化课堂—用中国书法“点燃”孩子们对传统文化的热情,同时通过轻松有趣的方式,向他们介绍和新年相关的英语表达。这是一次文化与教育的碰撞,更是一场令我受益匪浅的成长旅程。
As the Chinese New Year approached, I had the privilege of hosting a unique cultural session—using Chinese calligraphy to “ignite” children’s enthusiasm for traditional culture while introducing them to English expressions related to the New Year. This was a fusion of culture and education, as well as a deeply rewarding learning experience for me.
初上讲台:紧张与挑战并存
First Steps onto the Lectern: Where Tension and Transformation Converge
这是我第一次以正式的方式为低龄学生授课。尽管提前准备了好几天,但上课时依然有些紧张。一开始,同学们沉浸在游戏中,注意力分散,直到一位志愿者帮忙安抚,课堂才逐渐安静下来。
授课过程中,意外情况接连不断:有个别孩子在提问环节突然哭泣,红色书签(最受欢迎的颜色)库存不足……这些突发状况让我意识到,教学不仅需要知识储备,更需要随机应变的能力。
This was my first time teaching young students in such a formalsetting. Despite days of preparation, I felt nervous when the class began. At first, the students were distracted, immersed in their games, and it took the help of a volunteer to quiet them down.
During the lesson, unexpected situations arose—a girl suddenly cried during the Q&A session, and we ran out of red bookmarks (the most popular color). These moments reminded me that teaching requires not only knowledge but also the ability to think on your feet.

然而,当我们开始制作书签时,课堂氛围瞬间改变。同学们对书法表现出浓厚的兴趣,尽管有些人不小心弄坏了书签,但他们依然热情高涨。许多孩子甚至主动找我为他们写书法作品,连志愿者也加入了求字的行列。这一刻,我深深感受到传统文化的魅力——即使在这个快节奏的时代,书法依然能打动人心。
However, the atmosphere changed completely when we started making bookmarks. The students showed great interest in calligraphy, and even when some made mistakes or tore their bookmarks, their enthusiasm never waned. Many children, and even some volunteers, asked me to write calligraphy for them on cards and bookmarks. In that moment, I felt the enduring charm of traditional culture—even in this fast-paced world, calligraphy still has the power to captivate hearts.
第二堂课:改进与成长
The second class: Growth and Improvement
吸取了第一节课的经验,我在第二堂课调整了教学方式:从清晰的黑板演示开始,并为书签制作设定了更结构化的指引。这次,课堂更加井然有序,同学们的作品质量也有了显著提升。看到他们专注的眼神和完成书签时的笑容,我感到无比自豪。
Learning from the first session, I adjusted my approach for the second class. I started with a clear demonstration on the blackboard and provided more structured instructions for the bookmark activity. This time, the class was more organized, and the students’ work showed remarkable improvement. Seeing their focused expressions and proud smiles as they completed their bookmarks filled me with a sense of accomplishment.

通过这次活动,我不仅分享了我对书法和文学的热爱,还真正感受到了教学的意义:用耐心与热情去点燃他人的兴趣和热情。
Through this event, I not only shared my love for calligraphy and literature but also experienced the true meaning of teaching: igniting others' curiosity and passion through patience and enthusiasm.

Chinese calligraphy, an art form that has endured for thousands of years, found new vitality in the hands of these children. This reinforced my determination to share traditional Chinese culture with more people and left me excited for future opportunities in cultural exchange and teaching.
